What is a color region puzzle?

A color region puzzle (also called a queens or crowns puzzle) is a logic grid game. The board is split into irregular colored areas. Your job is to place crowns so every constraint is satisfied at once — not by guessing.

The idea in one sentence

Put exactly one crown in each row, each column, and each color, and keep crowns from touching — even on a corner.

Why the colors matter

Colors are not decoration. Each connected color is one region. If a region is a skinny snake of five squares, exactly one of those five gets a crown. That couples with the row/column rules the way a Sudoku digit couples boxes and lines.
