Queens puzzle tips
Good color-region boards are designed to be solved by forced moves, not trial-and-error. These habits transfer to Coronet, LinkedIn Queens, and similar games — without spoiling any specific daily.
1. Start with the smallest regions
A two- or three-cell color often pins a crown early. Once that crown is down, paint X’s on its eight surrounding squares and on the rest of its row and column.
2. Treat X’s as progress
Marking impossibles is half the game. If a region has only one open square left, that square is a crown. If a row has only one open square left, same story.
3. Cross-check row vs color
Ask: “Where can this color still live inside this row?” When a color is squeezed into one cell of a row, you have a placement — even if the region looks large elsewhere.
4. Never leave crowns adjacent
After every crown, clear the king-move neighborhood. Diagonal touches are illegal in this genre; missing one corner is a common late-game fail.
5. Use tools without outsourcing thinking
Auto-place X and Check catch slips. Hints should confirm a deduction you almost had — not skip the logic. On Coronet, Practice sizes are a low-pressure place to build the habit before Today.
